BATTERY AND CHARGER SERVICE
At the A. J. Gates Company, we have trained technicians that focus on servicing industrial batteries and chargers.
We will conduct an onsite analysis of your equipment and provide a written report on the overall condition of your battery and/or charger. We will inspect all cables, connectors, electrical hook ups, vent caps, etc. to ensure proper safety as well as fully diagnose and repair any issues uncovered.
Battery Analysis
This analysis is done at your site and includes a written report on battery condition, inspection of your battery specific gravity, measure cell voltages at rest and under load, complete visual inspection of cables, connectors, vent caps, and review of your battery area for proper safety equipment.
Charger Analysis
Completed on site and includes a written report on the condition of your chargers, inspection of your battery to charger to insure proper match, complete visual inspection of cables, connectors, AC electrical hook up, and review of your charger area for proper safety equipment.
Planned Maintenance
A Planned Maintenance (PM) program has many elements that make it an excellent investment including:
- Timely response in the same day or the next morning
- Quality control from our service team which has over 42 years of experience on all makes and models of batteries and chargers
- Detailed invoicing that lists what repairs were made
- Flexibility in ability to meet any of your changing needs in a timely manner
- Adequate inventory of all parts with established numerous cross references and contacts which allow us to have or get all parts promptly and reasonably
- Complete field and shop services to include cell replacement, battery washing, load tests and all related components repair
Charger Planned Maintenance
Our Charger PM consists of 18 items covering the following:
- Inspect cables and connectors
- Inspect charger sheet metal and cover
- Air blow and clean inside of charger
- Inspect supply circuit
- Verify proper grounding
- Inspect and test internal components and assemblies
- Test and calibrate control unit
- Measure AC amp draws, primary and secondary
- Replace faulty contact and connectors**
- Verify AC amp draws, primary and secondary
- Check wire tie output cables
- Measure DC amps and voltage on charge
- Provide detailed written condition report
- Review for safe operation and advise
- Advise proper battery charging procedures in writing
Planned Maintenance
Our Battery PM programs are designed to be complete and consist of 13 items covering all areas of the battery including:
- Inspect cables and connectors
- Water all cells as necessary
- Run specificgravity on all cells
- Measure cell voltage at rest and under load
- Clean and neutralize corrosion
- Provide detailed written condition report
- Review for safe operation and advise
- Replace faulty contact and connectors*
- Replace missing or damaged vent caps*
- Replacing missing intercell shrouds*
- Advise of proper battery charging procedures in writing
